What is an Airport Master Plan?

An Airport Master Plan is a document which shows the long-term development plans for an airport. The primary goal of a master plan is to provide guidelines for future development of the airport which will provide the facilities necessary to satisfy aviation demand in a financially responsible manner while balancing the airport development with local issues, which may include environmental and socioeconomic concerns. A 20-year is typical for an airport master plan.
